Welcome | éy swayel

Welcome! I am grateful to be working as a Registered Clinical Counsellor in the community of Hope, BC, in the beautiful Fraser Valley. I would like to acknowledge that I live, work and learn on the traditional ancestral and unceded shared territory of the Cheam, Sts’ailes, Sq’éwlets, Seabird Island people and Chawathil people of the Tiyt Tribe. The Tiyt Tribes of the Stó:lō territory extend along the boundaries down both sides of the Fraser River from Yale to Seabird.

My approach is grounded in warmth, empathy, and respect, focusing on your unique strengths to help you navigate both past and present challenges. I am committed to providing a safe and inclusive environment, honoring all aspects of your identity, including race, culture, gender, sexual orientation, and religious affiliation. Creating a safe and compassionate space for you is my top priority. I am passionate about walking alongside individuals on their personal journeys.

With a diverse background spanning over 30 years, I bring a unique perspective to my practice. I began my career in health care as a dietitian, pregnancy outreach health care professional, childbirth educator, and parenting class instructor. I then transitioned into education, specializing in alternative and inclusive approaches, before spending the last 15 years as a school counsellor working with children and youth.

To accommodate your schedule, I am accepting evening appointments.
